Google pixel has launched its budget smartphone Pixel 9a. The most selling phone from google pixel is a series. As a series is budget friendly once. Pixel 9a is launched on April 10th, 2025. We get many color options, but storage and RAM has only one option. The pixel 9a comes with 8GB RAM and 256 GB storage at price ₹49,999.
Design and built quality of pixel 9a:
The pixel 9a comes with a plastic body which makes the phone less weight and budget segment comes like these only. The phone weighs only 186 grams, and 8.9 mm thin. These dimensions make the phone look cool.
While the backside of the phone has glass finished, it is plastic. The camera unit is redesigned which looks classier than the previous generation phone. I loved the way the phone looked.
On the right side of the phone, we get power and volume buttons. The sides made flat from the inspiration of apples. But pixels must be unique with their curved sides, always the curved sides provide a better grip.
The pixel is equipped with dual stereo speakers which makes our streaming amazing. We find speakers on the bottom of the phone along with sim slot, primary mic and charging port USB type-C. On the top of pixel 9a we get the secondary mic of the phone.
Display of pixel 9a:
The pixel 9a gets a good 6.3-inch display, they want a series to be compact to use for their customers. The display has FHD+ OLED HDR 10 support. The display has 130 Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 2700 kits. These are major upgrades in display. Pixel 9a has optical under display fingerprint sensor.
We can easily use display in broad daylight as it has 2700 peak brightness. The display has L1 supports which enables you to watch HDR and HD videos across amazon, YouTube, Netflix, and other streaming apps.
We get a punch hole camera in this phone. The bezels of the phone are very thick, which is quite disturbing while using the phone. All other phones have thinnest bezels, Pixel need to upgrade in this segment.
Performance of pixel 9a:
The pixel 9a got a processor of Tensor G4 processor. This processor is only for general usage and clicking many amazing photos. If you try out gaming in this phone we get huge frame drops, lag issues.
Those who want to play games on also this phone gave them bad experiences in gaming. But image processing and managing daily activities is a piece of a cake for this phone.
The phone easily heats in the outside weather conditions. Even when we use camera indoors, we get almost 40 degrees heat. While outdoors we can cook something or iron over clothes with the heat it gets.
The phone got powered with 8GB LPDDR5 X RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage support. We also have 3.2 UFS support for external streaming for youtubers. We get a good number of 5G bands which ensures the seamless of 5G connectivity.
As we seen in the premium pixel 9pro series we got the security chip, Google has not compromised and protected its budget phone with Titan m3 chip.
Software of pixel 9a:
We cannot even question the software and there is no need to think about it. Pixel 9a got equipped with clean google android OS 15 out of the box. We get very clean OS without any bloatware and disturbances in usage. We have 7 years of security and version updates and there is no other phone brand providing such huge years of updates.
But for the fancy users we will not get app locks, app hides and no mention call recording. I think other phone users get disappointed while seeing this thing. The google assistant we see is now integrated with Gemini which improved in suggestions and productivity of user.
We get NFC with this phone, Bluetooth version 5.3. Wi-Fi 6E.
Battery of the pixel 9a:
Pixel a has the biggest battery for every in-pixel phone which is 5100 mAh. The battery is huge, which lats more than previous phones. All the previous pixel users we frustrated only because of the battery capacity and drain of the phone.
Continues 1 hour of YouTube streaming only drops up to 8% of battery life, which is quite good optimization in this phone. But the phone is only supported with 23-watt charger, but we will not get charger inside box. But this 23-watt charger takes much longer to get charged. The phone takes more than 1 hour to get fully charged.
Camera segment of Pixel 9a:
Pixel is only special for their cameras. All people who purchase the phone are only for the camera quality and features at lower price than iPhone. The phone has a 48MP main camera with OIS and 13MP ultrawide camera. Do not fall for the trap of Mega pixels, google pixel phone cameras perform well even with low MP. Its all about the camera and sensor used with cameras. On the front we have a 13MP camera. Using an ultra-wide camera, we can click macro photos which are simply cool and super.
There I will not mention bad pictures in the pixel 9a and any other pixel phones. As google provides answers to any type of question around the world, the same pixel phones perform amazing in any type of conditions. Low light, no light, sun light, any place pixel stands out to be amazingly good.
The details and colors in the images will be mind blowing and accurate. We will not get any other phones like pixel phones in the camera segment. iPhone and Samsung also fade in front of pixel phones. We can record 4K videos in pixel 9a.
In the portrait shots we have only digital zoom which makes some clarity missing we zoomed to 3x. But it is quite natural and when compared with another phone of digital zoom pixel looks more cool and good.
As I have mentioned we can take macro photography using 13Mp ultra-wide-angle cameras. The macro shots are simply amazing details and colors are superb. We can even record 4K macro videos using ultra-wide cameras.
Front camera:
The front camera of Pixel 9a clicks amazing pictures with 13MP camera. It does not look like 13MP camera shots. As I mentioned earlier, do not care about MP when google pixel phones are in your hand. They perform very well at any type of condition.
We can record 4K videos at 60 fps.
We have some AI features in the camera app. One is adding yourself in the picture. If you are a group of friends and there is no one to click your pictures, one can click and join the frame exactly beside them and they can click his picture even without being in frame. This feature is the most helpful one.
We get the best picker feature which analysis your face in all the pictures and suggest you change the face to the best caught in those pictures. I know in the group pictures some may close their eyes or see somewhere. But this feature helps those people how always busy in world.
We also get a noise removal option which removes seamlessly all the noise present in the video’s and audio recorded in the phone.
Conclusion:
The phone is a complete power pack with general performance but not gaming performance. The phone is always worth it, but the price is higher, we can expect some more features at this price. We can get beast processors, super cool displays in this segment. But the camera is unbeatable in the segment.
The only reason I always wanted to experience the google pixel phone is the camera. The camera quality at this budget is extraordinary, we can even imagine how good it would be in every condition.
We can wait for the sale to buy this phone; on sale we get a good price drop which would be worth that.
